Managing and Metering

A user can access the Dashboard via the DNS name of a Solution Envoy. By default – the user is provided access to a single Solution Envoy environment. The environments can be increased based on customer and business requirements.

A Solution Envoy is the agent that is capable of showing deployed solutions that were built in the Solution Designer. After a solution has passed the pipeline, it is deployed to the initial DEV Solution Envoy that was created during the installation process..

The Solution Envoy is installed in a so called tethered namespace. This special setup allows the main namespace (e.g. cpd) to control it in terms of re-using permissions and several infrastructure components like the helm tiller.

Metering

To ensure the correct metering in the sense of complying to the license, it is currently necessary to install the CPD Control Plane in each namespace, where components of the Financial Services Workbench are running. Namely each tethered namespace also has the prerequisite of a CPD Control Plane.

In POC situations it is not required to install the CPD Control Plane in tethered namespaces.
