Connect to IBM Cloud Pak Services

With Financial Services Workbench 2.4, Solution Designer starts integration with IBM Cloud Pak services. As a first approach it is now possible to add connections to IBM Cloud Pak for Data in order to use data assets from an IBM Watson® Knowledge Catalog to create entities from the asset's data model.

Manage IBM Cloud Pak Services

Admin users can manage IBM Cloud Pak services in the Admin Settings area. Each IBM Cloud Pak service is identified by a unique alias. In order to create and manage IBM Cloud Pak services you must have admin privileges. To access the Admin Settings page, use the Settings capability on the top right of the page. There you will get an overview of the already existing IBM Cloud Pak services and their master data.

Create IBM Cloud Pak Services

To create a new IBM Cloud Pak service, use the Create button.

The master data of a IBM Cloud Pak service are the following:


Property	Description
Alias	Used to specify a IBM Cloud Pak service under the given alias name. This field is mandatory.
Type	This is the type of a IBM Cloud Pak service. There is one available option: IBM Cloud Pak for Data. This field is mandatory.
Base URL	The URL to the IBM Cloud Pak service. This value must be unique. This field is mandatory.
Label	This is a short description of the IBM Cloud Pak service. This field is optional.

Use IBM Cloud Pak Services

To use a IBM Cloud Pak service, every user must define an API key for the IBM Cloud Pak service. Each user can only specify one API key per IBM Cloud Pak service. This API key will be then used for every interaction with the remote IBM Cloud Pak service and to restrict the capabilities of the user to the permissions that are set in the remote IBM Cloud Pak service.

Manage User Settings

To access the User Settings, use the Profile button on the top right side of the page and navigate to the User Settings page.

Create an API key

Each user can have one API key for each IBM Cloud Pak service for which he has rights. To create a new API key, use the header capability Create in the API keys tab on the User Settings page.

An API key is defined using the following master data:


Property	Description
Key name	Name of the API key. It is unique for each user. This field is mandatory.
IBM Cloud Pak Service	A list of all the IBM Cloud Pak Services to which the current user has rights. The IBM Cloud Pak Services are represented with their assigned alias that was provided by the admin user. This field is mandatory.
API key	This is the actual API key. This field is mandatory.
IBM Cloud Pak Service Username	This is the username as defined in the IBM Cloud Pak Service. This field is mandatory.
